From the Mollie Brown Observatory 5/5/19 . . . Sunspot AR2740. It’s been awhile since I shot the sun, mainly because it is in a time of low activity, which it goes through every 11 years. When I saw an article about the latest sunspot that is twice as wide as the earth, I had to try and capture it. I shot this Sunday afternoon. The full view is from the 60mm guidescope and gives us an idea of how big the sun is compared to the earth. The little spot in the upper left corner is the sunspot. Remember it’s TWICE the size of earth! The close-up is through the 8”LX90. That image is rotated 90 degrees and resembles an apple with a huge worm hole! Cool!!
