LX200 RA not working

I received my new LX200 12” and had a major issue with it, the RA drive didn’t work at all. I tried everything short of taking it apart and could not get it working. I wonder what happened to it between the factory inspection and my receipt? Anyway MEADE had me ship it back to them and they paid the freight so now will see how long this takes to replace or repair. I hope not to long.

You got an LX200-12?!!! Congratulations! Having it not run when you get it is a bummer. They will make it right, though. You still have your LX 90, I assume, so you are not an astronomical orphan while the new scope is gone.

Yes I have my 8” but the weather has been so bad it really doesn’t make any difference. I hope Meade comes through on the LX200.

Well I heard back from Meade and they are saying 6 to 8 weeks to fix. Seems to me that they are punishing the customer for a problem they created. That is a rediculsly long time for a $4000 telescope.

Wow Rick, congratulations on the larger scope! But yes, I agree with Bill, that is a bummer. In fact, it's more than a bummer. I would hate to know that I ordered a telescope of this caliber and it arrived inoperable.

Hey Rick I forgot to ask but did you order the scope directly from Meade or through a dealer?

Ordered it from Telescope.net.
I received a call from Chuck Word with Meade Support Monday, they have decided to ship me a new LX200 rather than making me wait for repair of my return. I received an email with tracking today for it. I can’t tell you how PLEASED I am about that.
