Hi,

Did you notice that when you select speed 5, the ls6 doesn't stop when you release the direction (up/down) keys?  you have to push the opposite key to stop the telescope moving...

it occurs only in speed 5 and with the up and down direction only

any ideas?

thanks

François

Francois,
I don’t believe that this is correct behavior for your Autostar. You may consider doing a ‘Restore Defaults’ under ‘Setup’ menu options. I would also do a ‘Calibrate Elevation Drive’ under The setup menu as well. Maybe someone else on this site is familiar with this issue and has a solution, other wise you could contact Meade Support.

Good luck,
Rick

Hi Francois,

I have not heard of that.  Sounds pretty weird.  If you run out of ideas and if you cannot call customer support yourself, so that you are talking directly to them, let me know and I will call this in.

Francois,

I decided to go ahead and call in to Meade Customer Support and let them know about the problem you have encountered.

Frank, the person that answers the phone, said that he had not heard of that particular problem before, but thought doing a reset back to default settings would be a good thing to try.

He suggested that you call in he would pass along information about the problem, etc.  I told him I think you do not live in the U.S. and would not be able to use the toll free number, which is why I called in to let them know about it.  He was appreciative of the information.  I believe they will be attentive to the situation if a reset to default settings does not stop that particular problem.

I do think training the drives and all those good things would be the right thing to do if you do the default reset.

I cannot think of anything physical that could cause that particular problem without showing up with other speeds, directions, etc.  However, I could be wrong.

Please let us know how things go.

Best Regards,

Bill

hi Bill and all of you,

I really appreciate you called meade in order to solve my issue.

I am not near the scope for 2 week  but, I will do a reset it and I will told you what will be going on.

Just one question: does "restore default" reset also the drive calibration?

thanks

François

Hi Francois,

I suspect a default reset does reset the drive calibration back to wherever it was set at the factory.  I think you will have to re-train the drives.

Good Luck!

Hi,

After investigations, it seems that playing with "custom rate" should be the problem, even if "custom rate" change are not stored between sessions.

Hi,

Awfully, the "reverse N/S or E/W" settings can introduce some problem also...
