My telescope has been unused for several months due to my working abroad.

When I unpacked it this weekend, the telescope has not responded with either battery or mains connections.

The Autostar III handset is illuminated but not display any messages. I have tried switch on and off several times with no response.

In each case there is a beep when switched on but no greetings message.

Finally I tried to reload the firmware (from SD card obtained on purchase) but this did not work either.

Grateful for any advice.

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

The way you describe this does not sound good for an easy fix, but I am hopefully wrong.

Are you in a position to call Meade Customer Support at 1-(800)626-3233? Or, maybe better yet, email them at customersupport@meade.com. If you email, tell them exactly what you said here. They ask for a couple of days to respond, in case the gentleman who normally responds is not in the office. Having an email address to send to is very new and I have only heard of one instance where it has been used. The results were good.

Hope this helps, and good luck! In any case, you certainly have my sympathies with this problem.

Bill,

Thanks for this. Hopes for an easy fix dashed!

I've contacted customer support as suggested.

Many thanks,

William
