I bought this model a long time ago and never unpacked and assembled it until today.  Of course there is a part missing and it is out of warranty, even though never used.  I called customer service today, and this model is discontinued with no parts available to purchase.

It is  a metal pin that snaps onto the aluminum Dec Worm Shaft.  The protruding rectangular shaped metal pin fits into the Dec motor drive and causes the shaft to rotate.  Without the pin, the whole system is useless! Can't believe it.  I spent all day on this.

What can be done??

Yes, this is a delima.  I can think of a few possibilities:

1.  Not really being able to visualize the part, could you go to the hardware store, buy a brass strip of an appropriate thickness and fabricate a replacement?

2.  Take the scope to a machinist and have a part made.

3.  Take the motor drive part off and put a couple of manual knobs on the scope and simply turn it manually.

This may not help, but please know you have my sympathies....at least I can do that!

Google "Telescope Warehouse". Bill has lots of misc. hardware for Meade gear of that era.
