Telescope: Meade LXD75 AR-6 @ f/8
Camera: Gary Honis Baader Modified Canon Rebel T2i
Filter: Orion Imaging Skyglow Filter
Exposure: 16x1/640sec, ISO 1600 saved as RAW
Software: Nebulosity, Registax 6, Photoshop

It wasn’t supposed to be clear tonight, but we got lucky for a few hours near sunset. It was so beautiful I just had to take a peek at the moon so I quickly got out my LXD75 AR-6 since refractors cool down pretty quickly. After enjoying the view with my binoviewers (stunning) I decided to take a crack at getting a set of basic images with my DSLR. It wasn’t dark enough to se any stars so I couldn’t set the focus with my Bahtinov mask so I did the best I could visually and using my camera’s 10x live view mode. It could have been a tad better, but it’s not too bad. I used Nebulosity to bin the source images 4x4 to reduce the image scale and noise, stacked in Registax, finished in Photoshop.

What a beautiful evening!
