Telescope: Meade LS8

I accidentally left my red dot finder switched on when putting the 'scope away. It's now not working - even after replacing the battery.

Is it likely it will have 'burned out', or is it more likely a faulty RDF - (i.e. it should be able to be kept switched on)

I have not heard of burning out one of the red dot finders, but I guess I do not have any reason to think that it could not happen.

Normally, the red dot finder comes back to life with a new battery.

Just as a guess, check in the instructions and see if a battery orientation is shown. Check your scope and make sure the battery is oriented correctly.
