Hi,
I live in Singapore and was thinking of getting a LX850. However I was told that it cannot be use without modification due to "latitude limitation" of the set. We are at 1.3667 deg N. Can the someone clarify this?
Thank you

That you wold have to contact customer support.I am not familiar with the new line of scopes and customer support would be the best place to start.

I recieved some information on this. The LX 850 has a single counterweight arm that cannot be shortened, and the weight itself is larger in diameter. At 1 degree N lattitude, the counterweight will hit the front leg of the tripod. Another person thinks it might be useful at that lattitude, but it would have to be removed from the tripod and mounted on a pedestal. The front tripod leg would then not be there to get in the way. The key words in that sentence is "might be useful."

Actually, the 'front' tripod leg is actually at the back, below the hand paddle. But, the front two legs may be an issue at lower declinations, and yes, a pedastle would work.
