I've managed to melt something in the small circuit board mounted behind the switch on the StarNavigator 102 mount. Thankfully, the AudioStar handset appears to be functioning normally, but the drive motors are both completely unresponsive.

Would anyone know if it's possible to replace these boards, and if so, how I can access the board on these mounts? Thanks.

The board is not a replacement item without purchasing another mount and pulling the board out of that one and putting it in your damaged one. The boards are not meant to come out. I suspect you would have to unsoldier all the wires, then reconnect them when you put the board in the other mount.

The best thing to do is purchase another mount on eBay, or call Meade Support and buy one from them. eBay will have the best price. Your old mount is worth a little bit for parts. The item in particular that is valuable is the altitude drive shaft. It is the thing that breaks when a tripod falls over and it cannot be purchased seperately.

If you were not doing anything abnormal, like hooking up a power supply backwards, but were just doing normal activities, the mount quit working, and the scope is still under warranty, call Meade Customer Support and tell them you have a defective mount. You can get a replacement.

Hope this helps,

There are two mounts for sale on eBay, both are listed at or under $75. One is open for bids and one is buy it now for $74.95. The seller is scophed1 who owns the Telescope-Warehouse on-line store on eBay and is a very good person to do business with.

Thanks for the eBay tips, Bill. Going to Meade is not an option in this case.
