Hi
not sure if this is in the correct section, but here goes.
Does the zero shift focus unit, override trhe need of the maunal focus on a LX200 12"? by these i mean, do you still need to get a rough focus, and then fine tune with the Zero Shift Unit?
many thanks.

To expand on Tony's response (Since you asked two questions, and he answered that last)
It does not override the need to use the manual focus. You get a rough focus, and then fine tune it with the focuser.

FWIW: With the LX-850 OTAs, the manual shifter is pretty god -- no discernable jiggling of image when turning fine focus knob.
The only advantage to the electric focuser on it is to focus while you are a bit away from the scope (sa at your computer -- within reach of the hand controller) to do fine focus while imaging.

You will love the zero shift focuser when you do not have to touch the scope on the fine tune they are well worth the money...

True -- that is a big benefit. If you are doing AstroPhotography, it is easier to tweak focus using the control paddle (and possbly Telescope control sopftware on PC)
I guess my only reason for previous post is that you can manipulate the focuser without getting much (if any) image shift by hand -- big improvement over my clasic LX-200.
