Hi
may sound silly, but have you tried to re-install the software? also, what was the source of the software, disk, or did you downloasd from Meade site?

I have installed it from both Disk and website I have reinstalled it several times from both sources, what is most disturbing is that I cannot uninstall it.

I don't believe the software was designed with Windows 7 compatibility. Right click on the program icon and select "Properties" for the list that pops up. There may be a tab marked "Compatibility" at the top of the window that opens up. If so, select it and then check the box and choose "Windows XP" from the list under the "Compatiblitly mode" section. This will run the application as if it is on Windows XP when you launch the program. If you don't see the "Compatibility" tab then it doesn't have that capability.

Yes, XP Compatibility mode is available only for WIndows 7 Professional...

I have tried the compatibility mode and it does not work with that either, not being able to uninstall this software is a bigger problem

Below are some links that may help you figue out how to uninstall the application. Use with caution. There are two applications from Meade. One is Autostar Suite and one is Autostar Updater. You may want to try installing the latest updater. I'm not sure if it shares any files with the suite. That is really just a shot in the dark though and may allow you to uninstall the suite. If you haven't done so already you may want to contact Meade support.

My laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit and the Autostar software loaded and works just fine.

So has anyone been able to get Autostar Updater to run on a 64-bit Win 7 computer? I have not been able to. Did Meade design it for older, obsolete computers?

Yes, Autostar Updater works on my computer. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I didn't have to set any compatibility modes. I did have to go the Meade website and download the latest version to get it to work. I got it from here:
http://meade.com/software-manuals

I am running v6.0.0.
