I am trying to decide if this is normal, or if I have a defective 5000 2" Diagonal.
After about 30 min of use - i.e. taking eyepieces in and out and looking at things AND not grabbing the eyepiece - the barrel extending out the diagonal loosens from the diagonal. To fix this I was told I have to remove the sides of the diagonal and retighten the screws.
I have never had this problem with the regular 1.25" diagonal.
Is this normal? If not is it time for a warranty claim?

I would call customer support at 800-626-3233 and ask them, or call the vendor you bought the diagonal from.
I would make sure you are not voiding your warranty, which I think you probably will, if you take it apart yourself.
