I just received a used SolarMax 40 and T-Max Tuner to double-stack on
my PST.

Can you experienced users tell me how to use it? Do I first maximize
my view adjusting the tuner on the PST, then add the SolarMax 40 and
then adjust ITS tuner? Directions that came with it are of no help.
What is the small opaque circle in the center of the SolarMax 40?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Terry,

Your procedure is correct!  The only thing I might add is that occasionally you can further improve the view by loosening and slightly rotating the entire outer etalon and its tuning ring.  The small opaque circle i one of the "feet" or spacers to maintain parallel plates of glass required for the etalon to function properly.  The PST itself has only a 35mm etalon which is small enough that the center foot is not required.
