I cannot seem to get the Autostar Suite program to control my LX200R telescope via my new laptop - HP Pavilion dv6000, 1GB RAM, 2 GHZ processor, USB 2.0, OS= Windows Vista Home Basic.  I have been successful with my desktop - IBM 1.6 GHZ, 512MB, USB, 1.1, Windows XP Professional.  Using LX200 serial cable and Serial -RS-232 adapter.  Any ideas?  ::)

Im not familiar with Vista but check to be sure you have the right comm port set.
If it worked on the dsektop ok then the scope is ok its just now trying to get vista configured for the system.

Got it!!!!!!  I was surfing the net on "Vista- USB RS-232 problems" and found someone who had not installed the vendor supplied driver - but allowed Vista to download it ...... so I uninstalled the driver, and then had Vista re-install the driver.  It worked!!!!  ::)

I found a driver for the serial USB to rs-232/DB9Male adapter at this link:

http://server.iad.li...459&action=view

you can also buy the adapter from them as well for much less than I have seen anywhere else.

I hope this helps.

Clear Skies!
