I am struggling with whether to stretch the budget and go for the extra aperture. Portability is an issue, though I am pretty strong, and I know the OTA of the 12" swings totally within the fork of the RCX scopes due to the f8 focal ratio. I will use the scope for both visual observation and imaging. Should I stretch the budget and go for the 12 over the 10? or save significant bucks for other accessories? Any comments from people experienced with setting up the 12" by themselves, both on the Alt-Az mode and on wedge will be much appreciated.

As I am making my decision in the next few days(after attending the RTMC), I would appreciate any thoughts you might have. You certainly can email me directly at jim_cott@earthlink.net.

Many thanks,

Hi Jim,

If you attended RTMC, you may already have your answer.  I have used and demo'd 10", 12", and 14" in alt-az  and setup/packed up alone.  On a wedge 14" is two only; 12" one with difficulty; and 10" one is doable.
