Well, you don't always get what you want, so I took what I could get.  In tonight's case, I was trying to catch Europa's shadow on Jupiter.  Well, I goofed setting up my telescope, so a tree blocked the view for the better part of the evening.  So I took a pic of Uranus, which is very poor, and a shot of Alberio.  The skies were hazy & murky.  On a positive note, I saw a fireball that was so bright it lit up the tops of the trees.  It honestly scared me at first, until I figured out what I was seeing.  By far, the brightest meteor I've ever seen.

Blatz for you all.

Good job on Alberio!

That fire ball? That wasn't on Thursday evening by chance?

My neighbor also saw one and told me about it. He said it too surprised him. It was so bright that he stopped the lawn mower to look (yes, he seems to like mowing in the dark).

Nope.  The pix were taken last night (Friday), about the same time I saw the fireball.
