hi

All my images have noise on them in vertical stripes, is this normal?

If I adjust themout i'm left with nothing unless it's a bright object.

Last night I took 30s subs of M57 overhead, when I combine them I would expect random noise to be reduced. However 10 subs combined still shows the noise.

Am I just expecting too much ?? do I need anothe 100 subs to get rid of this.

any help appreciated

David

ps how do i post an image and I will show an example.

I would have to see an image to see what noise you are refering to.
You can e mail me the image in full size so I can get a better resolution as the postings here are limited to size.
E mail it to Meade_Help at Qteaser dot com

Mike

Thanks for the reply, two images are on their way, had the usual file size issues at my end so, the big one is zipped.

Hope this helps.

Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks again

I sent you e mail back but it keeps bouncing back as un deliverable.
Here is what I put in it

Dave,
This is one I havnt seen before.
Things to check.
Make sure you have a good cable.
Your USB cable may be bad.
Are you running the usb close or next to a power cord?
What PC  Laptop or desk top.
If Laptop your laptop may not be supplying enough power to the DSI .
Lets try narrowing things 1 step at a time.
Try another USB cable on it and see if it still happens.
Then try it on a different PC if you can.
Then we can go from there.

I've had it on my desktop pc with the original cable.
on my laptop i've ran it with original cable and another cable.

In all cases I get this noise.

Also the only mains power around is the laptop PSU, but they are generally not that close. I've had it in several setups and always shows this.

Just tried it again on my desktop. The supplied cable gives the normal noise, as did another cable. A longer cable just gave usb xfer errors.

Dave.
If you are getting this on everything you try  contact the dealer you purchased it from for an exchange.
There is something wrong with it in the board someplace.
Let me know how you make out.

Contacted my supplier (Khan Scope Centre) in Toronto.

Sent them  the same images, they have asked me to send the camera back, so it's on it's way back.

Will keep you posted on the service.

Mark

I am now into my 4th month on this issue. I am told that my camera was shipped back to Meade over a month ago but i am not getting much response from Khanscopes. Is there anyone in Meade that can chase this along. According to Khanscopes the camera was sent back to you in the first week of july.

Sorry if this is not the place to be posting this request, but I need to try something.

Thanks

David

Can anyone give me a contact email or number at meade to contact. According to Khanscopes (my dealer)  the camaera is still not back from Meade.

This is getting on for 7 months now, surely it doesn't take anymore than a couple of weeks to exchange a camera

Any help appreciated.

David

You would have to contact Meade Europe then.
I would get on your dealers tail about this as he was the one who sent it in for you.
This has been way to long of a wait and personally I would call your dealer and Meade Europe and complain a lot at this point.

At last It's back and working fine.

Khanscope in Toronto, Canada have led me along for around 8 months, I had to get in touch with the Toronto Police Fraud squad before they jumped into gear.

I got a reply from Meade Europe telling me they have passed my issue on to the US. No reply in a month from Meade US.

Very dissapointing experience all round but I have my camera back and it's cost me $100 in postage.

Let's hope this is a one off.

End of story - I hope!!

I hate to bring this up now but this happened to me also and I called the Meade hotline. The tech advised me just to download the latest version of the software and that solved all my problems. If and when you get your new camera and it still doesn't work try that.

Thanks for the idea, guess we'll never know.

I'm pretty sure I've always had the latest software installed, I have what is probably a new camera now and it seems to work fine.

Thanks

Khan Scopes is known to take a long time for some things. I live in Canada and they sometimes take forever.
I would definately Bi**h at them for this. There is no way it should take that long even if you returned it to Meade yourself.  The least they could have done is to supply you with a new camera and then wait for Meade to replace yours.

Your spot on about Khanscopes, I was given all sorts of stalling stories about people leaving the company and dropping the ball. I think they were taking advantage of the fact I was in the uk. They stalled and stalled then I informed them that i had reported them to Toronto fraud squad investigators. I got an email that week informing me that the camera had just arrived back from Meade !!!!

I later found a bunch of threads on line about khanscopes, all with similar tactics, avoid them.
