Yesterday was a complete white-out with rain. This morning it was sunny but hazy and I could see a prominence but little surface detail.

For those of you who don't know my site, I keep a large size format copy of the latest full disc solar picture:

http://philippugh.fo...Latest_Sun.html

Not a lot to see today but worth keeping a lookout.

Not good today. Very little surface detail and there's a prominence in the same place as yesterday but its spread out and dimmed, so its hard to see and I didn't get a photograph.

I've just been out and the Sun was very quiet. I wouldn't discourage anyone from having a go, especially if they have larger aperture instruments or better photographic equipment.

I'll process the photos later but don't expect to see much.

NOTE: Please feel free to add your own observations and photos here.

Although it was cloudy today, the solar eclipse was a small partial one from England. I've posted a picture taken with the camera alone and I'll process the PST pics later. There was very little activity on the solar disc.

I couldn't get much detail out of the PST but it showed the phase much better at 09:35 and 09:45 GMT.

Sorry won't upload , so go here:

The full size image shows a hint of a small prominence.

I see Brian B (from details) managed to capture a prominence but all I've seen is a very bland disc with no prominences. I've started to look at some of the snaps and it appears that I may be able to extract some detail from the close-ups.

I'll post the details later today or tomorrow on my website.

Nothing likely from England this week, with heavy rain.

It cleared enough by 5.30pm to look but it was rather quiet. I've posted 4 different processed images on my website and will do the close-ups sometime later.

I saw a prom today which Pete Lawrence photographed in a much better instrument than mine. Apart from that the Sun was quiet.

I couldn't update my website, due to errors with the hosting service but have the photos here:

I got the best prominence detail by splitting to CMYK and inverting the black channel.

On the same page are some pictures taken from a pretty village about an hour from my home in Chippenham, England.

The sun has been pretty quiet of late as you have seen.
I havnt seen any sunspots of late but there are a few nice prominances today.
I have the scope set up for the day and we will see how things progress.

We've got unseasonally heavy rain in England and I haven't seen the Sun since Sunday.

To think 5 years ago we were experiencing record temperatures over 100 F.

Clear sky in England this morning but the Sun was very quiet with no proms and few granulation features. I'll process the photos later.

No proms today, although there was more disc detail and I did a few close-ups that worked well. Here's a link:

We lost internet for 2 days but I'm back online. Yesterday, the Sun showed a lot of disc detail photographically and a prominence.

I caught some disc detail today at 18:30 GMT but no prominences.

Folks, there are 2 proms that were at the 7 and 8 o'clock position as seen from England at 14:45 GMT. I'd like to see you guys snap the Sun with larger instruments and add your pics to this thread.

If you go out now, remember that they will be in a different position in the USA as it is morning there, so look at the lower right.

Rather quiet today, I'm afraid with little disc detail and no proms. Let's hope someone gets a better instrument than the PST on it today.

Here's yesterday's pics:

Quiet again today, although an active region was spotted by larger 'scopes yesterday, I saw it today but it didn't come out in the full disc image.

You can go to my Photobucket album via my website but I haven't been able to update the website itself due to server errors.

I'm PSTless for a week or so, as I'm away on business with tight baggage restrictions on the airline.

I've checked the news and there's nothing in "white" light and an active region and some proms in H alpha.
