Sorry........I know the other thread is closed, but wanted to share my deliver from yesterday.

I guess they are out of the mugs for drinking pangalactic gargle blasters. :(

I did receive a pretty nice bag (cooler type I believe). Must be for transporting 6 packs of P.G.B. :)
But I think I'll use it for misc. scope accessories....most likely my cables (power, DSI, etc.)

Pin, Patch and decal........but no hat.

I did shoot Susie an email asking why they don't offer these items for purchase as I think people would buy.
Also asked what can I do to get a hat....I'd be willing to pay for. See, I'm a hat guy on the weekends.

So, just wanted to share...........

Ok, you can close this thread now so it doesn't get out of control ('cause I'm assuming that's what happened before). ;)

Hey!!  Why did the other thread get closed out?  Is it something we said?  are Ford Prefect and Zaphod Beeblebrox undesirable role models for future astronomers?  Are Pangalactic Gargleblasters illegal in any States or US territories?  What gives?!?

Glad to hear that some of the Meade Gear came through.  I STILL think this is a great way to promote the Meade company and create some enthusiasm amongst us in the 4M community...they should be making and distributing this stuff as fast as they can, either for a profit or as part of paid membership to 4M.

So if anybody hears anything about Meade beer mugs or shot glasses or nice sports jackets, let us know!!!

Toxo,
Maybe, if we could get permission to use the Meade Logo, maybe you and I can start a distributorship of Meade Apparel! :)

I can see it now:
Shirts, Jackets, PJ's!!
Bar Accessories (Mugs, glasses, coasters, shakers)

The PJ's would make a great Father's Day Gift....you know, that's coming up soon!

Hmmmm...now there is an idea.  Perhaps we can get permission to use the logo, start up a business, and contract with the local pennitentary system to produce 4M license plates!!  All profit, zero cost!!  I am sure all the MBA's would approve of this business model!!  If we incorperate in Taiwan or Korea I'll bet we get a tax break from the Federal Government and a free Support NAFTA sticker.....

Steve,

Are you amazed that they haven't closed down this thread yet?  Pure insurrection......in the spirit of Middle Ages astronomy.

So long as I feel it isnt going way off base I wont lock it.
I know it is a general disicussion but the last thread went way out of the galaxy so I felt it was time to let it go into remission.
Now if you or any one feels like you want to just chew the fat  let me know and I can set you to a live java chat where you all can just chat away.

Hey Toxo!
I got an email that I s/b receiving my hat. :)
You ask and you shall receive.

I asked again about them offering these items up for sale. Waiting for response.

Maybe if others ask, they will set up a store in the online outlet. I'd be interested to see what else they might have and may purchase other items.

Oh, I did order the explorer set (binocular, compass, flashlight, etc). Thought I would do some early Xmas shopping, but did order 2  (one for me).

Not a bad set for the price. Like the compass....steady, better than the WWII model I got from my Opa (grandfather, but I will still cherish for ever).

The binocs are pretty good. Good substitute until I get my scope back. Good moon detail and you can just make out the rings of Saturn (believe it or not, but you need to really be steady).

Well that's it.....thought I would share.

Oh, and I might add.........I was very impressed with the fact that Meade called today to say my scope s/b shipping back this week. Great Service!!! Keep it up!!

The Adventure 6-piece package/set is an excellent value!!  The 10x50 binoculars are indeed very good - I don't think you can beat for the money.  Good contrast, crisp, pleasing image, and they are constructed/built well and don't weigh much - again, considering the price the Outlet store sold them for.  The rest of the stuff is good as extra goodies though I don't think they're anything special.  The case for all 6 pieces could be better but hey, you get what you pay for.  I had bought this package months back primarily because the binoculars - and I am very happy with them - and whatever else came with it is just an added bonus.  I agree, the compas is pretty well made, as far as I can say.  I'd recommend this set to anyone without reservation.    :)  Go Meade!

I am thinking about taking the patch down to my local baseball cap store and having it sewn onto the cap of my choice.

I would definately go for a hat. Did I miss something; how did y'all get a patch, pin, etc? Is that some sort of 4M member swag? Anyone know when the store will be back up and will they have a bunch of Meade logo stuff? How about a Meade chess set where the pieces are different types of little pewter scopes?

It is interesting how we can spent hundreds and thousands of dollars for high performance astronomical technology and still the trinkets and beads are about as important to us. ;D ;D :)

btw where can i get a Meade Hat?

My 4M surprise just arrived; a pin, a patch, a decal, and the little Meade ETX belly bag sort of thing - same as the photo in the original post. Since I didn't know I was getting anything it was a nice surprise. I'll have the patch put on a hat of my choice. Decal goes on the eyepiece case. The pin goes in the ETX bag along with finder scope that came with the LX200. I replaced the finder first thing with an AstroPhysics 8x50 illum ret that I like better. But I digress.

Yeah, guys, tell me what's the "trick" to get Meade to sell me or simply send me a patch with their logo or a hat or ANYTHING???  They don't sell anything at their site.  They didn't respond to my email some 2-3 months ago asking them how I can order something like that...  ???  Well, I guess, I have to admit, I am not on their list of favorites, hahaha  ;D  And, by the way, anyone ahs any clue whether (and when) we will have that outlet stre online up and running again?!  I miss great deals!!!  8)

Yeah..How can I get on the deal too/ and for the site why is taking so long to build a or re-built a web store? I don't see the need to change something that works.

I can imagine it taking a long time to build a shopping cart site with lots of products, but it does seem like I would want to leave something up if possible, now matter how rickety, until the new one was ready and make the switch. I wasn't around - when did it go down?
